William married Sarah Glenn about 1805 and they settled on what was called the "Glenn Tract" in then Mercer County, PA. They had children: Harvey (b. ?), Elizabeth (b. 1807), Samuel (b. 1809), Susanna (b. 1811), Margaret (b. 1813), James G. William Holliday built and operated a tannery on the little stream called Taylor Run. A small dam was used to turn the stone water wheel. He also built a large two story red brick house. This house was later torn down by his son James because of a cracked foundation and rebuilt using all the old frame work and hand made brick into a large one story house. This house remains today as one of the oldest homes in the community.
William Holliday was one of the church elders of Plain Grove Presbyterian Church. It was said not a whisper was ever uttered against him. He died at the age of 45 years leaving a family of nine children many of these children were not strong and died when young. Upon his wife Sarah fell the burden of heavy duties of the household and the farm work. It was said of her that she could swing a syckle with the speed and strength of any man.
