WITMER
Mrs. Mary A. Witmer, age 92 years on May 25th, 1914, died yesterday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Hanlon, on the Rapids road.
Deceased was born in Baden, Germany, and came to America when a young woman, settling in Pennsylvania, where she resided for eleven years, later moving west and locating in Caledonia, where she made her home until two years ago, since living with her daughter, Mrs. John Hanlon.
Mrs. Witmer was a resident of Racine county for fifty-eight years and has survived all her old friends and neighbors and is the last member of the original congregation of the Holy Family church in Caledonia, of which she has always been a devoted member. Mrs. Witmer has always been active in any work concerning the welfare of her community, an energetic worker and a woman of strong character and mind, the faculties of which she retained to the last.
She was married to Laudelin Haas, who died in 1864, she later marrying Frederick Witmer, whom she also survived.
Deceased is survived by four sons and two daughters, William Haas of South Milwaukee; Laudelin J. Haas of Eureka, Cal.; Jacob and John Haas of this city; Mrs John Hanlon and Mrs. John J. Fox, Sr., also of this city; seventeen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Saturday morning at 8:30 o'clock from the home of Mrs. John Hanlon and interment will be made in the cemetery of Holy Family church in Caledonia.
