Funeral services for Charlie H. Ballance, 63, who died Friday at the Marine Hospital in Norfolk, were conducted Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock by the Rev. W.L. Gregory at his home at Hatteras. Burial was in the family cemetery at Hatteras.
Mr. Ballance was the son of Millard F. and Mary Willis Ballance and was the husband of Mrs. Linda [Lina] Ballance.
Other survivors include two sons: Charlie Ballance, Jr. of Hatteras and Millard Ballance of the U.S. Engineers; two daughters: Mrs. Hilda Ballance Brown of Marshallburg and Mrs. Melvin Basnight of Lakehurst, N.J.; and several grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Donald Oden, Edgar Styron, Albert Austin, Denny Basnight, Alma Burrus and Roy Gray.
Masonic rites were conducted by Masonic Lodge #521 of Wanchese.
