Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 11, in Wilson Brim-Daniel Funeral Home Chapel, Walnut Grove

Mrs. McPhail, 77, Walnut Grove, died Wednesday morning in her home following an extended illness.

The daughter of Ramie and Dollie Wright Holman, she was born near Aldrich and grew up in the Walnut Grove area. She graduated from Walnut Grove High School in 1952. At an early age, she was saved and became a Christian. She was a former employee of American Laundry of Springfield and for several years owned and operated Walnut Grove Dairy Queen. Moving to Independence, she was manager of the Housing Authority of Independence.

She married Thomas P. McPhail Nov. 1, 1954 and they shared more than 56 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a great-granddaughter McKinley Deken; two brothers, Noel and Ralph Holman; and five sisters, Lucille McQuain, Marjorie Slagle, Irene Fite, Frances Williams and Mary Hayter.

She survived by her husband, Tom, of the home; two sons, Tom McPhail and wife Denise of Ash Grove and Tim McPhail and wife Brenda of Republic; five grandchildren, Chrissi Roberson and Grace McPhail, both of Ash Grove, Josh McPhail of Walnut Grove, Annie Deken and husband Michael of Republic and Thomas McPhail and wife Josey of Clever; seven great-grandchildren: Caleb, Hannah, Kooper, Isaac, McCord, Vivianna and Kingston; brother L.A. Holman and wife Marilyn of Walnut Grove; two sisters, Helen Weatherford of Independence and Donna Green and husband Bill of Fair Play; two sisters-in-law, Opal and Dorothy Holman, both of Walnut Grove; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services with the Rev. Bill Nichols officiating will be followed by burial in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Aldrich. Friends may call after 4:30 p.m. today (Friday) in the chapel where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m.
