DEATH NOTICE (Ohio Patriot, October 18, 1894):

Mrs. James P. Crawford (Elizabeth Dickinson Nuzum) of this place, (Elkton, Ohio), received word from Iowa Point, Kansas, last week, announcing the death of her mother, Mrs. George Nuzum, aged 86 years. Deceased was a native of Gothrop, Yorkshire, England and came to America when but eleven years old. She was a faithful member of the M. E. church for over seventy-five years and was one of ten members that organized the first class in the M. E. church at this place and was the last survivor.

Deceased was the mother of nine children, four of whom preceded her to the heavenly home. Those who survive are Edgar C. Nuzum, Mrs. M.A. Snider, White Cloud, Kansas; Mrs. S.L. Shell lives in Effingham, Kansas; William Nuzum, Sr., Elizabeth D. Crawford live near Elkton.

Deceased was the sister of the late Dr. William Beaumont of New Cumberland, West Virginia; George Beaumont of Iowa; Thomas Beaumont of Weston, Missouri; Dr. John Beaumont of Louisiana. Dr. Godfrey Beaumont of Austin, Texas is the ony one now living of the family.

The deceased was a widow forty-six years and lived in Elkton at the time of the big flood in 1861, and lost all of her property, and had a narrow escape from being carried off by the flood. Jabez Beaumont of Oregon, Missouri practiced law in New Lisbon along in the fifties. Thirty-five years ago Captain Joseph Beaumont died at St. Joseph, Missouri. His widow is living yet.

Died:----Hannah Nusum [Nuzum], at 7 o'clock Thursday eve, Oct. 4th, at her home in Iowa Point, Ka., aged 88 years. Mrs. Nusum [Nuzum] leaves five children to mourn her loss. Two in Ohio were unable to attend, those present were Edgar Nusum [Nuzum] of White Cloud, Marsha Snyder and Sarah Shell of this city. Mrs. Nuzum [Nuzum] was born in England and had lived in Iowa Point 25 years. She was an unusally active old lady, living entirely alone, attending her own garden and doing all her work. She was a member of the Methodist church, and a true christian mother.
