Nathan Cox served in Co. I, 51st VA Inf., CSA, enlisting 12/31/1862, taken POW at Waynesboro 3/2/1865, transfered to Harper's Ferry then to Fort Delaware, released 6/19/1865.

He was a captain in the Confederate army; was wounded at the, battle of White Sulphur Springs, Greenbrier County, WV. A large minnie ball passed through both of his legs above the knees. He finally got well and lived a good many years afterwards.
