CIVIL WAR VETERAN

Aris B. Cox was the son of John and Nellie Ward Cox. His first wife was Martha Ann Pugh, After she died he married Lucy Boyer, the widow of Wiley Emmet Mink.

This memorial for Aris Bishop Cox in the A. B. Cox Cemetery, the cemetery named after him, is where he, his two wives, and his children, Clair Boyer Cox, Mary A. Cox, Lelia S. Cox were buried. There is also an unidentified Lucy Wave Cox. There is a cenotaph erected for Aris B. Cox in Bridle Creek Cemetery which is about a mile away from the hilltop cemetery of A. B. Cox. His cenotaph in the Bridle Creek Cemetery, which contains a bio can be seen here: Aris Bishop Cox.

According to the New River Notes, as of 2009 the A. B. Cox Cemetery was in poor condition with all but one marker having been knocked down. No pictures have been taken of any gravestone in the A. B. Cox Cemetery. The New River Notes say that Aris Cox has a Civil War marker which says, "CSA 1861 - 1865."*
