Leah (born Marie Anna) Dugas was born in St. Jacques de L'Achigan, Quebec, Canada, June 19, 1856. She was one of 15 children born to Ludger Dugas and Emilie Griveau Boisjolie. The family moved to Belle Prarie, Minnesota in 1860 when she was just 4. She met her husband Andrew, and they were married in October of 1894 (in Guthrie, Oklahoma). Sometime between 1907 and 1910, the family moved to Seattle they lived till she died in December, 1929, at the age of 73.
