Johnnie was born in Phoenix, Arizona and was a resident of Crown Point New Mexico when he enlisted in the Marines. He was a Native American Indian of the Navajo Tribe. Johnnie enlisted in the Marines 21 July 1966, at the Phoenix Recruiting Office.
Johnnie arrived in Vietnam 30 May 1967, and was assigned to Mike Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. He died as a result of a gunshot wound to the head from enemy small arms fire, during combat near Thon Tham Khe near the coast and13 kilometers east northeast of Hai Lang, while participating in Operation Badger Tooth.
Johnnie died 5 days after his 21st birthday.
He was single and served his country for 1 year, 5 months and 6 days and was KIA #19,380.
Johnnie had been in Vietnam for 6 months and 27 days.
He was 21 years and 5 days old.
Survived by his parents, Johnnie, Sr and Rosario Antonio and his brother, Phillip of Crown Point, McKinley Co., New Mexico.

His brother served in the Marines from 1975 to 1979.
