Charles B. Ault was a Union veteran of the Civil War.

He enlisted as a Private at Liberty, Pennsylvania on September 21, 1861, at the age of 34 years. Mustered in Company B, 7th Regiment, Pennsylvania Cavalry (80th Volunteers), on October 13, 1861, at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. On January 15, 1862, Charles was discharged for a disability.

He was first married to Mary Fulkerson in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. They had five children together: Harriet (b.1854, d.1933), Emily (b.1856, d.1857), John Murray (b.1858, d.unknown), Sarah (b.1862, d. 1870) and Frank Ault (b. 1860, d.1880).

Both John M. and brother Frank Ault appear on the 1880 US Census in East Plattsmouth, Mills, Iowa. John Murray (noted as Murry Ault) is living with Charles B and his second spouse, Loretta, while Frank is listed as a "Boarder" in the residence of his aunt, Elizabeth (Ault) Sheffer.

Charles B. Ault married Loretta A. Lemm on October 16, 1870, in Otoe County, Nebraska. Their marriage record is not easily located as both of their names were incorrectly transcribed by the clerk. The name Ault was recorded as "Autt" and the name "Lemm" and transcribed as "Lemon".

The marriage of Charles and Loretta produced ten children with eight living beyond infancy (sources 1900 and 1910 US Census data).

Mr. C.B. Ault, of Bethlehem, died of small pox on last Thursday night, making the seventh victim to succumb to that terrible malady. The strange thing about Mr. Ault's death is that he had had that disease once before and had contracted it again while acting in the capacity of nurse.

From Contributor: Kittylover (38163774):
"I found Charles B. Ault's Death record listed as Charley B. Anet in the Mills County, Iowa Death register. It is on page 61 entry 270. It states he died in Bethleham."Listed in the Mills county, Iowa death records. However, Charley B Anet is not a real person. The record was trying to report the death of Charles B Ault who died in Bethlehem, and is buried in the Glenwood cemetery.
