Charles Franklin Ault was born in Bethelhem, Iowa on March 28, 1891 to Charles B. and Loretta A. (Lemm) Ault.
In 1912, Charles left Plattsmouth for Grand Island, Nebraska, where he studied business at the Grand Island Business and Normal College.
He married Theresa Elizabeth Kelly in Glenwood, Iowa, on February 4, 1916. Their marriage was recorded on December 26, 1916, in the Mills County, Iowa registry. Charles and Theresa had kept their marriage a "secret" from friends until the marriage was formally announced in late November of 1916.
Charles was a general foreman for the Burlington Refrigerator Express Company but had also worked at the Plattsmouth Ice Plant, and the Iowa Nebraska Light & Power Company.
During his early youth he was well-known for his athletic ability with particular attention given towards his talent at playing baseball. Later in life he was noted for his "pleasant personality".
Charles Franklin Ault enjoyed relaxing on his front porch while writing poetry. He was very talented and some of his original works survive to this very day being housed by the Cass County Nebraska Museum and Historical Society:
"The Vision" - a whimsical "tail" with a "purrfect" ending
"Blood Will Tell" - how much is one man's blood really worth
"Happiness" - a word of kindness can make a persons day
"Music" - music hath charm to soothe the beast
"Success" - do you go to work with a smile on your face
"True Friends" - do you believe your friends are true
Charles Franklin Ault raised four children: Charles Eugene Ault, Mary Alice (Ault) McClanahan, Elizabeth Ann (Ault) Hobbs, and Joan Ault.
All of his children have passed from this earth.
