VOLNEY THOMPSON, eldest of seven children of Sarah Ann Amsden and Lawson G. Thompson.

Volney and Mary's farm was just north of Oak Grove Church. Deed Book 44 Mason County Court House show 50 acres near Oak Grove Church deeded from Samuel Rickard to Volney G. Thompson in August 27, 1888 for $775.

He was a truck farmer.

Married to Mary Margret Gibbs on 23 Sep 1869 in Mason, Mason, West Virginia, USA.

Twelve children were born to this union.

Member of United Brethern Church for more than 35 years.

Buried at Oak Grove Cemetery March 6, 1917. Reverend Roy Alkire, minsister.
