John M. Anglum, 32, who was born and lived most of his life in the Mallard community, passed away in a hospital in Iowa City Sunday morning (1 May). Mr. Anglum had been in ill health for a number of years. He was taken to the Iowa City hospital on April 10, but his condition did not improve. The remains were brought to Mallard, where funeral services were held Tuesday morning (3 May). At 8:30 a.m. a requiem high mass was celebrated in the St. Mary's Catholic church by Rev. Philip Dailey of Sac City, a cousin of the deceased. Interment was in the Ayrshire cemetery. Pallbearers were Leonard Lowe, Art Hahn, and Ray Stafford, all of Mallard, Leonard Eklund of Curlew, Wm. Degnan and Wm. O'Brien of Ayrshire. The Martin Funeral Home of Emmetsburg was in charge of funeral arrangements.

John Michael Anglum was born at Mallard on October 16, 1905. The family lived at that locality until 1917 when they moved to Ayshire. On October 7, 1929 was united in marriage to Miss Leola Hersom of Mallard. Since that time the family has made their home at Mallard.

Mr. Anglum leaves to mourn his passing his wife and two small children, Jean Ann, 6 and Jackie, 3. A daughter preceded him in death. Mr. Anglum was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Anglum. Besides his parents, one brother and one sister preceded him in death. Others who survive him are three sisters and one brother. The sisters are Mrs. Harry (Rachel Ann) Degnan, Mrs. Ralph (Florence) Degnan and Miss Maurine Anglum, all of Ayrshire. A brother, Harry Anglum also survives him.
