Served Bethel Church as Pastor from February 17, 1843 until November 27, 1845. He was called back again and served from November 5, 1846 until October 25, 1850. He was 1st married to Rebecca ? born about 1801. After her death, he married Martha Horn in Marion Co., Ga., April 22, 1866. He was the father of Elder Solomon F. Phillips, that preached at Bethel a few times and County Line church, Chattahoochee County, Ga. and later was Moderator of the Upatoie Association for several years. Elder Phillips was listed in the 1870 Marion County census, age 74, wife, Martha, age 42, both born in S. C.

This is to certify that we the appraisers after being duly appointed and taken the oath according to law have will and truly valued the estate of Elijah Phillips dec'd & find it to be worth three hundred & fourteen dollars and seventy five cents and We the appraisers set apart the entire estate for the use and benefit of the widow of said dec'd, this Sept. 9, 1871.
