Mrs. Caroline Witz Passes Away
at Home Near Rays Crossing

Funeral services for Mrs. Caroline Haehl Witz, 82 years old, who died Wednesday noon at her home near Rays Crossing, will be held at 10 o'clock Saturday morning at the Rays Crossing C.U. church.
The Rev. O. J. McMullen of Shelbyville and the Rev. Walter E. James. Pastor of the church, will officiate and burial will be in the Bennett Cemetery in charge of Ezra Carmony, funeral director.
Mrs. Witz was the last of a family of five children. She was born in the community where she died January 29, 1854 the daughter of John Henry and Mary Katherine Zeifz Haehl. On October 27, 1878 she was married to Joseph Witz, who died August 11, 1898. Eight children were born.
Survivors are two sons, Joseph E., at home and Henry L. Witz, of near Manilla; five daughters, Mrs. Albert Gardner of Union township and the Misses Emma, Rose, Pauline, and Edna Witz, all of Shelby county; nine grandchildren. One son John Alfred Witz died July 7, 1932.
Mrs. Witz was a member of the Zion Evangelical church of Union township having been the last member of her original class. She later joined the C.U. church at Rays Crossing. She was active in church work until her illness.
