The second of five children of John Wesley, Sr. and Levina Miles Shupe, she was born in Tenessee. The family moved to Kentucky and then, in 1860, came in covered wagon to Grayville in Wabash Co. Illinois and then on to Edwards Co. where they began farming.
She married Chauncey Elliott and continued to live in the area. They had three known children: John, George and Nancy Elliott.
