Kenneth Laxton (Toby) Hollenbeck, 53, died at 10:15 p.m. Saturday at his home, Route 1, West Burlington. He was a son of Walter and Ethel Laxton Hollenbeck, born August 8, 1915 at Nichols. He was a former resident of Nichols and Lone Tree.
February 25, 1940, at Memphis, Missouri, Kenneth Hollenbeck married Esther Cornwell. Mr. Hollenbeck was a member of the Presbyterian Church, the Disabled America Veterans, the Des Moines Saddle Club, and the Eastern Iowa Dreamers Club.
Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Esther Hollenbeck; one son, Walter Hollenbeck, Route 1, West Burlington; three daughters, Mrs. Ellen Simmons, Route 1, West Burlington, Mrs. Glenda Myers, Burlington, and Mrs. Lynda Westring, Middletown; four brothers, Clarence and Walter, Muscatine, Frank, West Liberty, and Earl, Phoenix, Arizona; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Stanzel, Davenport and Opal Tucker, Fort Worth, Texas; his mother, Mrs. Ethel McNair, Colona, Illinois; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Elmer.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Elliott-Luning Chapel. Rev. Ralph Jordan will officiate. Burial will be at the Burlington Memorial Park cemetery. Military rites will be held at the graveside. Friends may meet with the family at the Elliott-Luning Chapel from 7:30 to 9 tonight.
