Alanson was the 3rd son (of 7) of Levi Bacon & Sarah "Sally" Green (both of Connecticut)
He came to the Michigan Territory in 1832 with his family at 12 years of age.
In Feb of 1844 at the home of the bride's parent's in Watertown, Clinton County, MI he married Sarah Pinney Smith, the daughter of Ebenezer and Lydia Alexander (Edson) Smith late of NY state.
Sarah Bacon remarried in 1857 after Alanson's death in 1850. She married her cousin, Gustavus Smith in April 1857 and died 12 days later.
