G. R. Campbell , 89, passed away on May 29, 2011. G. R. was born and lived in Saltville.

G. R. was retired from the Smyth County Career and Technical Center, where he was the original welding program instructor. He was a member of the Plasterco United Methodist Church and the Madam Russell United Methodist Church where he loved singing in the choirs.

G. R. was preceded in death by his parent's, Gip and Kansas Campbell, brother, Peyton Campbell, sisters, Thelma Campbell, Velma Phillips and Meda Laws.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Revonda Campbell; son, Roger and wife Barbara of Maryville, Tenn.; son, Jeff Campbell of Saltville; and two special nephews; and a special niece.

Memorials contributions may be made to the Madam Russell United Methodist Church , 207 West Main St. PO Box JJ, Saltville ,Va. 24370. Funeral services for Mr. GR Campbell will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2011 in the Madam Russell United Methodist Church with the Rev. Don Petty and the Rev. Scott Spence officiating.
