Josef Blahnik was born Jan 25, 1854 in Smrzovice, Bohemia (Cz). He was the son of Josef Blahnik 1829-1912 and Magdalena Votruba 1832-1914. Josef was a musician and came to America at the age of 15. He married Katherine Lips on Oct 14, 1874 in Kewaunee Co, WI. They had 6 children: Emily Blahnik 1875-1920, Adolph 1878-1962, Joseph Jr. 1881-1959, Louis (Alois) 1883-1966, Frank 1890-1966 and Otto 1893-1961. Josef died in the family home in Carlton Twp, WI on Oct 3, 1932.
