OBITUARY
Mary Jane Burch was born in Bath Co., Kentucky, July 12, 1833, and moved with her parents to Lewis Co., in early childhood. She was married to Samuel Cheatum in June 1854. He preceded her to the better world, December 3, 1884. Eleven children were born to them, of whom eight survive, Mrs. W. F. Marble, Mrs. J. H. Swann, Edina, Mrs. E. J. Martin, Wash., Mrs. H. W. Coe, Cherry Box, Mo., William H. Cheatum, LaBelle, Mo., Samuel D. Cheatum, Novelty, Mo., John L. Cheatum and Thomas A. Cheatum, of Fort Collins, Col. She leaves three brothers, Henry Burch of Edina, William Burch of Knox City and Thomas Burch of La.
She was united with the Christian Church in the fall of 1850, and lived a consecrated christian life until her death, which occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. F. Marble, with whom she had made her home since last September. Had she lived until July 12, she would have attained the age of 77 years.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. C. S. Rennison, and the remains were interred in the Linville Cemetery.
