Funeral services for Cordia B. Hicks, held Oct 2 at New Market Methodist Church, were conducted by Rev Clarence Potter. Mrs Hicks died Sunday, Sept 29 at Corning, Ia, at the age of 66 years, 10 months and 22 days. Burial was at Old Memory Cemetery at New Market.

The following obituary was included in the services: Cordia B. Jones, daughter of Frank and May Jones, was born on November 7, 1896 in Page county. She received her schooling in East River township and New Market schools.

In July, 1932, she was united in marriage to Doyle Hicks. Cordia spent the remaining 52 years of her life in their home in New Market, Iowa.

She was a great lover of flowers and a beautiful seamstress and was a milliner by trade. She did most beautiful fancy work.

Mrs Hicks was a member of the Methodist Church from the time she was 18 years of age.

Cordia was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle, who died in May of 1945. She is survived by her mother, Mrs May Jones of New Market; her sister, Eva Sparks of Gravity; three sisters and six nephews; two uncles and three aunts; other relatives and many friends.
