Funeral services for Vernon L. Arnett, 80, of Gatesville were held at 2 p.m. Tuesady, July 25, in the Gatesville Funeral Home Chapel with Brother James Billingsley of Hamilton officiating. Burial was in the Live Oak Cemetery.
Mr. Arnett passed away in the Gatesville hospital on Monday morning, July 24.
He was born in the Liberty-Ohio community of Hamilton County Nov. 16, 1897, son of Joe P. [Plez] and [Lou] Emma Ballard Arnett. On April 27, 1921, [Book 8:155] he married Emma Jeffries. They lived in the Liberty community until 1930 when they moved to Gatesville. He was a rancher and a retired carpenter.
Survivors include his wife: one son, L. V. Arnett; five sisters, Lela Winters, Zola Massey, Elsie Riley and Voletta Cates, and Corene Lammnon; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Eucie Dyson, Arthur Brewer, Don Calhoun, Son Peavy, Harmon Sellers, Bob Shoaf, Herman Sims and G. W. Asher.
