He was born on July 19, 1891, at Three Springs, a son of Harry Valentine and Louella (Parks) Cornelius. He was married to Hattie Ramsey of Todd on September 21, 1912, at Cassville.
His wife survives along with the following children: Irvin C. Cornelius, Maddensville; Millard Cornelius, Wilmington, DEL; and Mrs. Doyle (Edwinna) Oberman of Huntingdon. Two sons preceded him in in death. There are ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Jay Cornelius, Detroit, Mich; Herbert Cornelius, Saxton; Preston Cornelius, Baltimore, MD; Mrs. Grace Crotsley, Hollidaysburg; and Mrs. Charles (Bessie) Lane of Bellwood.
From his youth, Mr. Cornelius was always active in Christian service. He attended the Calvary Independent Baptist Church of Saltillo. He organized three burial associations in Huntingdon County and was serving as president of the Shavers Creek Community Burial Association.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. from he Calvary Independent Baptist Church at Saltillo. The Rev. Richard H. Myers will officiate. Interment will be made in the Saltillo Cemetery. Friends will be received at the McClain Funeral Home in Cassville from 7 p.m. this evening until noon on Saturday and then at the church until the hour of the service.
