James Langston ballew Jr., 85,of New Boston, Texas died Monday, September 16,2002, in a Texarkana hospital.
Mr. Ballew was born March 6,1917 in Oak Grove, Texas. He was a retired supervisor for Red River Army Depot, a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church and a World War II Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Melba Ballew of New Boston; two sons, James Ballew of Longview, Texas; and Herman A. Ballew of Troup, Texas; three daughters, Dorothy Yates Dickson of DeKalb, Texas; Peggy Ann Clegg of Ore City, Texas; and Janis Smith of New Boston; three sisters, Roxie Adams and Bobbie Bunger of DeKalb; and Reda Merle Proctor of Fort Worth, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 2 p.m. today at Bates-Rolf Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joe Shaffer officiating. Burial will be in Woodmen Cemetery, DeKalb.
