Hazel McCants Ackerman, 80, a retired nurse's aide and widow of William James Ackerman Sr., died Tuesday, November 4, 1986, in a Georgetown County Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Ackerman was born in Williamsburg County, a daughter of John Thomas McCants and Gertrude Wilson McCants.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, its Young as Ever senior citizens group, Dorcas Sunday school class, and Current Mission No.1 Circle. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 148 and was a charter member of Wites Bridge Garden Club.
She was survived by a son, William James Ackerman Jr. of Georgetown; a daughter, Gertrude (Vernon M. Jr.) Parker of Georgetown; two brothers, Coy James McCants of Pawleys Island and Thomas Paul McCants of Georgetown; two grandchildren, Vernon M. Parker III and Stacie Marie Ackerman; and three step-grandchildren, Sandra R. Johnson, Billy Joe Gunter, and
Anthony Glenn Gunter.
Funeral services were Thursday, November 6, 1986, in First Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Johnson-Graham Funeral Home, followed in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
