Alene was born on January 18, 1920 in Van Zandt County, TX to parents Henry and Alice (Guinn) McAfee and entered into eternal rest on April 11, 2014 at the age of 94. Alene was known as a prankster and practical joker. She had a great sense of humor. Alene was very giving of her life. She was raised on a farm in Van Zandt County and graduated from Canton High School. Alene married Andrew Gibbs in 1948 and they were happily married for almost 50 years. She was very active in her community. Alene was one of the founding member for The Mabank Riding Club. She was a member of Mabank Garden Club, Eastern Star – Roddy Lodge and Friends of Library Support Group. Alene served as the Historian for the Rotary Club and was a part of the Avanti Society and Red Hat Ladies. She also was a member of Elm Grove's Women On The Move and The Bday Club @ Cedar Creek Country Club. Alene played a vital role in her community and loved helping and serving others. She was a very loving and caring lady who will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
Alene was preceded in death by her parents, husband Andrew Gibbs, brother Kenneth McAfee and granddaughter Makenzie Busby.
She is survived by her daughters; Andrea Pickens and husband Joe of Mabank, Bettie Busby and husband Rickey of Mabank, grandchildren; Alex Harrill, Andi Harrill, Chris and Cheryl Pickens, Kirstin Pickens, Teresa and Nelson Busby, Austin Busby, Kelsie and Samuel Spencer, 5 great-grandchildren, brother Cozell McAfee and wife Stella of Mabank, a host of extended family and friends.
