EARL PERKINS
Earl "Ole" J. Perkins. age 93, of Nimrod, Minnesota, died on Thursday, August 23, 2001, at the Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids, Minnesota.
Mr. Perkins was born on October 27, 1907, in Orton township, Wadena County, Minnesota, the son of Marvin and Alsa (Hanson) Perkins. He attended the Nimrod school and spent most of his life in the Nimrod area, working in lumbering, hunting, trapping, seining minnows, and buying and selling rice. In the 1940's he farmed a couple years on the Halvor Evenson homestead in Winfield Township, Spiritwood, North Dakota. He was an avid outdoorsman all his life and he was well known for his smoked fish and turkeys.
He married Ruth Cohrs in 1932. He is survived by his son, David (Diane) Perkins of Duluth, Minnesota; his step-daughter, Jackie (Mike) Tarpinian of Jamestown, North Dakota; five grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and five brothers.
Funeral services were held on Monday, August 27, 2001, at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Park Rapids. Musical selections were "Beyond the Sunset" and "On Eagles Wings." Active casketbearers were Jack Perkins, Joel Perkins, Jim Zeller, Charlene Moran, Sheila Wobbe, and Connie Pickar. Interment was at West Lyons Cemetery near Nimrod. Arrangements were handled by the Cease Fanily Funeral Home of Park Rapids.
