After graduation Arleen worked at the Blue Moon Cafe in Elk Creek and also cleaned and assisted for elderly neighbors. She retired as the office manager for the Johnson County ASCS Office afer 40 years.
She was united in marriage to Leland Krueger at the St. Peter's Lutheran Church , Elk Creek on Feb. 10, 1957. They made their home in Elk Creek. Arleen loved gardening, cooking, canning and was very attentive to her grandchildren. She enjoyed having family and friends come from far and wide. Arleen always baked homemade cinnamon rolls for the hunters during hunting season.
When her health began to decline Arleen became a resident of Ridgeview Towers in Tecumseh, later transferring to Belle Terrace. She passed away there on Friday, May 20, 2011 at the age of 80.
She is survived by her step-son, Greg Krueger and wife Joyce of Elk Creek, step-daughters, Carla Birdsall and husband Dave of Seattle, WA. and Janean Mitchell of Seattle, WA. 8 step-grandchildren, 7 step-great-grand children, brother, Ted Woltemath and wife Mary of Grove City, OH. brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lorain and Joan Krueger of Lincoln, Eldred Woltemath of Lincoln, Ainta Woltemath of Arvada, CO, Eileen Woltemath of Tecumseh and Luetta Morrissey of Olahoma City, OK. and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Arleen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Leland (Sept. 18,2009) and brothers, Laverne, Gary and Leland Woltemath).
Funeral services will be held at the St. Peter's Lutheran Church, rural Elk Creek, Nebraska, at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2011 with Reverend Robert Schermbeck offfiating. Pallbearers are nephews, Mike Woltemath, Scott Woltemath, Steve Woltemath, Loraine Woltemath, Roger Woltemath, Dallas Wolteman, Jay Woltemath and Kevin Woltemath. Organist, Lorette Kerchal. Interment will be in the St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Elk Creek, NE.
