SAN LEANDRO - A memorial service will be held Monday at 7 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church for physician Harold A. Duey who died Sunday in Oroville after a long illness.

Dr. Duey was 76. He was in family practice in San Leandro for 18 years.

Duey was born in Chester, Neb., and received his M.D. degree from the University of Nebraska in 1933. He practiced in Amherst, Neb., for two years and then became a physician for the gold mining industry.

He was assistant superintendent of the Nebraska State Tuberculosis Hospital and assistant superintendent of the Tuberculosis Hospital in Ahwahnee, Calif.

He practiced in King City from from (NOTE: Typed as in newspaper) 1941 to 1948 and then moved to San Leandro. He retired from general practice in 1964 to become a member of the Final Board of Hearings and Appeals for Social Security in Washington, D.C. From 1967 to 1970 he was medical director of the U.S. Postal Service for Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. He returned to San Leandro in 1970 to open a health clinic at the Oakland Postal Services complex.

Duey retired in 1973 because of failing health and moved to Cottonwood Estates in Oroville in 1975.

He is survived by his wife, Helen, of Oroville; three sons, Richard and Robert of Castro Valley and David of Chico; two sisters, Helen Neville and Pauline Luttermoser of Boynton Beach, Fla.; and a brother, Paul of Silver Spring, Md.

In his memory his family prefers contributions to the church of philanthropy of their choice or the Auxiliary Scholarship Fund of Humana Hospital, San Leandro.
