Mrs. Harry E. Cresswell died expectedly of a heart attack at her home in Franklin Springs this morning.
Charlotte L. Shaffer Cresswell was born in Clarks Hill, IN, July 29, 1883,
a daughter of the late Harry and Martha Thompson Shaffer.
She received her education in the Clarks Hill schools and became an accomplished musician.
Mrs. Cresswell had arranged, a program of her own original compositions which was to have been presented in a concert recital to be held in the Clinton Central School hall auditorium tomorrow evening, for the benefit of the scholarship fund.
Mrs. Cresswell has published several of her composition, one of the best known of which was written for Mother's Day entitled "The Gleam of the Silver in Her Hair."
The concert has been postponed indefinitely.
She married Harry E. Cresswell of Clarks Hill, Dec. 31, 1901.
They moved to Clinton in 191(3?),
locating on a farm on the Dugway Road, where they have since resided.
Mrs. Cresswell was a member of the Stone Presbyterian Church, Clinton and of the Morrill Bible Class and was active in church work.
She is survived by her husband;
four sons, Charles Austin, Roger William (Sr.), of Clinton, Edward Rowland, of Philadelphia, PA , and
Richard R. Cresswell of Clinton;
one daughter, Charlotte Rosalie of Clinton;
also four grandchildren, Emily Charlotte, Jane Eleanor, Barbara Ann, and Roger William, Jr., all of Clinton.
