Obituary from the Shreveport Times newspaper, July 14, 1943, Wednesday, p. 7:

Funeral services for Joseph Shelton Harrelson, 49, of 6000 Southern Avenue, will be held in the Rose-Neath funeral chapel at 5 p.m. today. Burial will be in the Veterans of Foreign Wars plot in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of that organization.

Mr. Harrelson died suddenly Monday afternoon after a long illness. He was a second lieutenant in the First World War, served overseas, and recently had been receiving treatment at the Veterans' Hospital in Alexandria. For several years he has served as a postman at the local post office.

He is survived by his widow; two daughters, Billie Mae and Anette Harrelson of Shreveport; four sons, Lieut. Joseph S. Harrelson, Jr., in the Army, Eugene Harrelson, in the Navy, and Andrew Thomas Harrelson and William Harrelson, both of Shreveport.

All photos and information requests will gladly be honored upon request. Thank you for respecting my grandfather's privacy. Thanks to all the Findagrave's volunteers for their efforts.
