The people of this community were saddened and shocked on July 9, to hear that Mrs. Charles Crawfoot had been suddenly stricken down with apoplexy. In the morning she was around with her work until ten o'clock when she entered her room to take a bath. Her husband having occasion to go to her room found her lying on the floor in an unconscious state. A physician pronounced it apoplexy and she lingered until Thursday night and passed away.

Mrs. Crawfoot was a woman of refinement, generous in hospitality and loved by all. No discord ever entered her home in which there was everything to make life desireable. The husband who is nearly crazed by this sudden blow visits her grave daily and looks forward to the time when they will be reunited. She leaves a devoted husband, four brothers, two sisters and numerous friends to mourn her untimely death. Her remains reposed in an elegant casket: the floral tributes were many and beautiful every flower being emblematic of her pure life. Her remains were interred in the Venice Center Cemetery where sleep so many of her kindred. Her four brothers acted as pall bearers.
