Ida Murray Of Effingham Dies
Mrs. Ida Hanny Murray, 86, died early this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. E. Sells, in Effingham.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Community church in Effingham with the Rev. Grant Browning officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster cemetery.
She was born July 25, 1871, on a farm near Lancaster. Her parents were Rudolph and Jane Hanny. She was one of a family of nine children.
She and Frank Murray were married March 12, 1889, and lived for five years in Soldier. They later moved to Lancaster where he and his brother, Grant Murray purchased the lumberyard, which they operated for a time.
Mr. Murray died March 24, 1900, and in 1907, Mrs. Murray and children moved to Atchison. In 1912, she moved to a farm north of Effingham and since 1920 has been living with her daughter in Effingham.
She was a member of Royal Neighbors, Order of Eastern Star and the Effingham Community church.
Surviving are three children, John and Paul Murray, and Mrs. Sells, all of Effingham; a brother, W. F. Hanny, Hiawatha, four grandchildren, Doris Murray, Janice Miller, W. F. Critchfield, all of Effingham, and Dr. T. W. Critchfield, Everett, Wash, three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Jennie Cormode and Mrs. W. F. Barrett, Effingham, and Mrs. Ella M. Hawk, Cleveland, Ohio, and seven great grandchildren.
William Hinz, Guy McClanahan, Charles Hargrove, Herbert Schurman, Covell Hawk and Charlie Hegarty will be pallbearers, Stutz Shifflett are in charge of arrangements.
