Mrs. John Ipe Of Lancaster Dies

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Ipe, 80, widow of John C. Ipe of Lancaster, died at 2:15 o'clock this morning at the home of her daughter Mrs. Vernon Highfill, 600 Atchison Street. She had been ill three weeks.
Since the death of her husband, Oct. 15,1943, Mrs. Ipe had made her home with her children and for the past three years had lived with her daughter, Mrs. Robert Shufflebarger, in Atchison.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Stanton chapel, the Rev. Harold Roberts, pastor of the First Christian church, officiating. Burial will be in the Lancaster cemetery.
A daughter of Rudolph and Jane Hanny, Mrs. Ipe was born May 30, 1873 in Lancaster. She was married there March 9, 1892 to Mr. Ipe and until 1905 when they bought the Hanny home place at Lancaster, they lived near Youngstown, Ohio, where Mre. Ipe farmed.
From 1905 until Mr. Ipe's retirement they lived in the Lancaster community, and moved to Huron a few months before his death.
Mrs. Ipe was a member of the Lancaster Presbyterian church. She was a devoted mother and wife and was beloved for her many qualities of heart and mind. She leaves a wide circle of friends.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. William Simpson (Edna), Atchison, Mrs. F. J. McNeal (Viola), Phoenix Ariz., Mrs. Robert Shufflebarger (Jane), Atchison, Mrs. Vernon Highfill (Mary), Atchison, and Mrs. Virgil Steadman (Dorothy), Socorro, N.M.; two sons, Murray Ipe, Superior, Ariz., and John H. Ipe, Florence, Ariz.; a sister, Mrs. Ida Murray, Effingham; two brothers, Sherman Hanny, Atchison and Will Hanny, Robinson; seven grandchildren and a great great grandchild.
