Lawrence- Shirley Meiers, 76, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Pioneer Ridge in Lawrence. She was born on October 6, 1934 in Quenemo, the daughter of Ernest and Nellie Redenbaugh Miller.
Shirley grew up in Quenemo, had lived most of her life in Topeka and had been in Lawrence for the last year. Shirley graduated from Quenemo High School in 1953. She was a Homemaker and had been a bookkeeper for Donaldson's Jewelers in Topeka.
She was a member of the Susanna Wesley United Methodist Church in Topeka.
On January 9, 1954, Shirley married John Meiers in Vassar.
Shirley was preceded in death by John on June 9, 2009 and also by her brothers, Kenny, Marvin, Loren and Dean Miller, and by her sister, June Tillman.
Shirley is survived by her children, Robert Meiers and wife Kristina and Sharon Koehler and husband Rick, all of Lawrence; her brother, Arlie Miller of Lyndon; 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Funeral services for Shirley will be at 1:55pm, Friday, May 20 at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. The family will receive friends from 1:30pm until service time at the chapel. Burial will be in the Vassar Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association and sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS. 66451.
