Ref: 1 Apr. 1933 -- George Hawker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hawker of Ryan was united in marriage last Saturday afternoon to Miss Velva Hugh. The ceremony was performed in the parsonage of the Baptist Church at Manchester by the pastor, Rev. M. C. Powers. Mrs. Hawker is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Hugh, living north of Manchester, where a wedding supper was served to immediate relatives following the ceremony. The young couple will locate on the Hawker farm northeast of Ryan. They have the best wishes of many friends.

Hawker, 72, a former Manchester area resident who died Wednesday night at the Mather Nursing Home in Greene, will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Lutheran Church in Manchester with burial in the Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Ryan. Friends may call at Shelly Funeral Home after 7 p.m. Thursday; survivors are his wife, Mrs. Mary H. Hawker, daughter, Mrs. LaVerne of Nashua; a foster daughter, Mrs. Ernest Carroll of Cummings; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul and Carl of Manchester; and four sisters, Mrs. Bea Arnold of Oelwein, Mrs. Edith Arnold of Marion, Mrs. Milton Aldrich of Coggen and Mrs. Robert O'Dell of Manchester.
