Wilson was the son of Lewis Jackson and Lydia (Dukeshire) Hunt. He was one of five brothers who were soldiers in the civil war. He was a Private in the Fourth Iowa Cavalry. On 22 June 1863, Wilson S. Hunt was killed in action at Bear Creek, in Hinds County, Mississippi. On this same day, in the same battle, his brother Duran T. Hunt was taken prisoner by the Confederate Army. We do not know where Wilson is buried ... perhaps we never will.
