Son of Benjamin & Sarah Elizabeth Lemley-Dye. Married Barbara Livengood 9-2-1803. They had 13 Children: John Albert, Sarah, Benjamin, Mary, James, Elizabeth, George, Anna, Catherine, William, Andrew AJ , Harrison & Peter Dye. 2nd married Rebecca E Brown 9-2-1847. They had Laura Jane, Margaret Rebecca & Rachel Minerva Dye. The family was opposed to the 2nd marriage because Rebecca was younger than 10 of James's children. Rebecca was later tried for her husband's murder-shot in his bed. James was a very wealthy man at his death. He was killed at his farm home in McDonough County. Originally James was buried in the Pope Cemetery Later Tombstone was moved to Bible Grove Cemetery in 1960
