They were married in the early spring when she was 23 years old. That would make it 1842, in Carthage, Hancock Co., Illinois.
They moved to Missouri from Illinois in 1866. William Dye was of part German descent. He was a farmer. He was the first around to plant an orchard and the first to put screens on his doors and windows. After their children left home, they built a new two story house. It is somewhere northeast of Kirksville. I was there one time. Of course, it was an old house then. Perhaps has been torn down since.
According to the 1850 census, William Dye was born in Ohio. Susan Cameron Dye was born in Tennessee. Was in Carthage, Illinois, when she was 20 years old. (1849)
