Basil R. Walker, 59,, Nampa, former Rockland resident died Friday at his home after an illness.
He was born Oct. 15, 1911, at Rockland to Mark E. and Laura Walker. As a youth he received his schooling in the Rockland area and was a dairy farmer there until 1966 when he moved to Pocatello. In 1969 he moved his dairy operations to the Meridian-Nampa area. He married Thelma Danks April 2, 1942, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Mr. Walker was a member of the LDS church and was a high-priest in the Meridian Second Ward, North Boise stake. Hhe had served as a member of the High Council in the American Falls stake and the West Pocatello stake.
He is survived by his wife; six sons, Mark and Cortland, both of Bountiful, Utah; Twayne, Nyal and Robin, all of Nampa; and David, LDS missionary in New Zealand; five daughters, Mrs. Gary (Irene) Marshall and Diane Walker, both of Pocatello; Mrs. Robert (Anita) Lewis of Boise; Paula and Tina Kim, both of Nampa; a brother, Ona Walker of Rockland; five sisters, Mrs. Enid Thornton, Bountiful, Utah; Mrs. Ora Smith, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Olga Halling, Pocatello; Mrs. Celia Ralphs, Rockland, and Mrs. Viorene Wardle, Fresno, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
