Sephoneous Carnahan died at his home Tuesday night at 12 o'clock, Sept. 8th, at the age of 77 yrs. 10 months and 29 days. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, Oct. 10, 1842 and untied in marriage to Sarah Jane David Sept. 19, 1860 at Industry, Illinois. They resided at that place for a number of years, then coming to Oklahoma, where they have been living and where he has spent his last years. He was a Civil War Veteran and leaves a wife, Sarah Jane Carnahan, and was the father of then children, seven of whom survive him; Mr. James Evart Carnahan of Chelsea, Mrs. Lee Powell of Boise, Idaho, Mr. Charse Carnahan of Cushing, OK; Mrs. P. Fisher of Tulsa, Ok; Mrs. Louis Hermonslofer of Sigourney, Iowa; Mrs. P.D. Vann Fleet of Fairfield, Iowa, and Mr. Baxter B. Carnahan, Oiltown, OK. He also leaves 30 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. the funeral services were conducted by teh Apostollics at the residence, Sept. 10th at 2:30 p.m., and the body laid to rest in the Chelsea Cemetery.
Sephroneous Carnahan was the son of James Harvey Carnahan born 1814 in Ohio and Cynthia Murphy born 1816 in Ohio.
