Robert J. Canfield, 82, Granton, died on Wednesday, March 17, 1999, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield. Private family services will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Granton. Interment will be in the Windfall Cemetery, Granton.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Jody Conner, David Kuehn, Vincent Canfield, Edward Webster, Steven Canfield and Jonathon Canfield.

Robert Judson Canfield was born on Feb. 26, 1917, in Granton, town of York, to Howard and Lula (nee McClafin) Canfield.

He attended the Romadka School in Granton, and then worked on the family farm and also worked at various jobs in the area. He married Elizabeth Daniels, in Neillsville, on Feb. 23, 1936, at the Methodist parsonage by the Rev. Paul White. After their marriage, they purchased his wife's parents' farm and farmed there from 1941 until 1964. In 1965, he began what is now known as Canfield's Pump Service. He worked as a plumber until retiring in 1982.
