Emma Anderson was born in Habo, Björkäng Parish (present Töreboda), Sweden. She and her son emigrated to the United States in October 1881, traveling with her sister, Augusta and husband Anders (Axel) Enberg and their son Gereon. They were to arrive at McKeesport, Pennsylvania. They then traveled to Minnesota.
Emma married Ole Nelson on October 21, 1882, in Crow Wing Co., Minnesota.
Her known children: Emil, Hilda, Albin, Alfred, and Elmer.
Children Emil, Hilda, and husband Ole preceded her in death. She remained living in Brainerd, where she died in 1918.

Funeral of Brainerd Resident of 35 Years to be Held on Tuesday Afternoon
Mrs. Emma Nelson, who died Friday evening May 24th, was born in Sweden March 20, 1860. She came to Brainerd 35 years ago, where she lived with the exception of six years in Alexandria. Her husband died 18 years ago. They have had five children of which three, Albin, Alfred and Elmer, are living to mourn their departed mother.
The funeral will take place on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home of her son, 908 S.E. 15th street, and at 2:30 o'clock from the Swedish Baptist church of which she was a member. Rev. P. Alfred Peterson will officiate.
