My 5th Great Grandfather

Wayne County Outlook 21 Mar 1907
Isaac Hurt was born Oct. 5th 1840 and died March 1st, 1907. Sallie Hurt, his wife was born April 27, 1842 and preceded her husband to the Heavenly Home just 24 days having died Feb. 5th, 1907. They were united in marriage July 11th, 1859. To this
union were born seven children of whom three died in infancy and Mrs. Mary Hurt Koger on the 1st, day Sept. 1905. The surviving children are: Mrs. Martha Hurt Burnett, John E. Hurt and Mrs. Lizzie Hurt Ramsey. They united with the United Baptist church at New Hope, in early life and later were in the organization of the Baptist church at Mt. Pisgah. Mrs. Hurt was a daughter of James and Nancy Tuggle and was born near New Hope church on Beaver Creek. Mr. Hurt was a son of John and Nancy Hurt and was
born, lived and died on the same farm near Mt. Pisgah, Ky. All their lives they were consistent Christians, it might be said of them as was said of Enoch: "They walked with God." No more powerful sermon was ever preached than the lives lived by these grand old people; savor of life unto life and others were made better by association with
them. The community in which they lived has sustained an almost irreparable loss, and in the heart of their many friends the memory of "Uncle Ike" and "Aunt Sallie" will long be green and it will be an inspiration to the children to know that father and mother are waiting for them on that "bright eternal shore." "They were united in life and in death were not separated" H.C. Kennedy Parents: John Hurt and Nancy Hurt Wife: Sallie Tuggle Marriage Date: July 19,1858, Wayne County, Kentucky ~*~Special thanks to Find A Grave Contributor A Jones Girl for Isaac's obituary ~*~
