Last week's Leader told of the death of Mrs. Nancy Alishie of this city at about 1:16 o'clock Wednesday morning, May 2nd. The funeral was held at the Methodist Episcopal church In this city, at one o'clock Thursday afternoon. The pastor of the church, the Reverend J. LaVerne Jay, preached the sermon. The singing was by a mixed quartette composed of Mr. Leroy Coonradt, Mrs. R. W. Hicks, Miss Frances Gustafson, and Mr. C. G. Scherlch, with Mrs. H. T. Olson at the piano. The songs used were "Rock of Ages," "Safe in the Arms of Jesus, " and Asleep in Jesus." The pall bearers wore J. H. Oltun, J. W. Lundy, Henry Williams, Earnest F. Morris, Frank E. Lovejoy and Charles B. Mattox. Following the services at the church, a procession accompanied the hearse to the West Union cemetery where interment was made by the side of her husband George Ailshie who died four years ago.
Obituary. Nancy Shinn was born at Moulton, Iowa, September 1st, 1854, and passed away In Sargent, Nebraska, at the home of her daughter Mrs. Clifford Roth, on May 2nd, 1928, at the age of 73 years, 8 months and 1 day. Nancy Shinn's parents resided on a farm and she attended a nearby country school where she received her education. On November 13th, 1873, she was united in marriage to George C. Ailshie and they lived on a farm in the vicinity of Moulton, Towa, until April, 1894, when they left Iowa and came to Custer county, Nebraska, and located on a farm in Cummings Park where they resided until February, 1900, when they moved to West Union, Nebraska, where they lived until October, 1913, when they moved to Sargent, and this has been her home ever since, a period of fourteen and one half years. There were born to Mr. and Mrs. George Ailshie four children:— Benjamin Franklin Ailshie, now of Arcadia, Nebraska; Anna Rebecca, who is now Mrs. Clifford Roth of this city; Charlotte and Henry. These last two died from diphtheria, within three months of each other, when were six years and five years Id respectively. Her husband passed away on February 22nd, 1924. Besides her children Mrs. Ailshie leaves to mourn her departure one sister, Mrs Sarah Baldock of Flagler, Colorado, two brothers H. J. Shinn of Cottage Grove, Oregon, and Douglas Shinn of Sargent, Nebraska; three grandchildren, Charles Ailshie and Mrs. Lois Petet of Arcadia, Nebraska, and Elmer Ailshie of Sargent; and one great grandchild, Dale Petet of Arcadia; and many other relatives and friends. One of the brothers mentioned, H. I. Shinn, was county judge of Custer county for four years. When Mrs. Ailshie was a girl she was converted and joined the Christian church. When the family moved to Nebraska, she joined the Methodist Episcopal church at West Union
