MR. JOSEPH NALLE of Houston, Texas passed away Thursday, May 2, 2002 at age 85. Joseph Nalle was born in 1916 in Austin, Texas to Adeline Hargrave and Ewell Nalle. He graduated from Austin High School and attended the University of Texas, graduating in 1937 with a degree in petroleum engineering. He was a member of the university swim team, Cowboys and Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternities. Mr. Nalle served his country as an officer in the United States Navy from 1941 to 1945 as a bombardier instructor. He worked in the oil fields of the panhandle of Texas, moving to Houston in 1948 as an independent oil operator. Mr. Nalle became senior vice-president of Texas Commerce Bank, then treasurer of Rice University from where he retired in 1986. He was a member of St. John The Divine Episcopal Church, River Oaks Country Club and Colonneh Club. He has been active in the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Houston, and the American Heart Association, serving as president of the local chapter. Mr. Nalle was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Corinne "Cook" Nalle, his daughter Lissa Nalle Baty, and sister Virginia Nalle Page. He is survived by his daughter Wick Nalle Rowland and her husband Rob of Houston, son Joe Nalle, Jr and his wife Kathie of San Antonio, Texas, and son-in-law Sam T. Baty and his wife Mary of Houston; seven grandchildren J.J. Baty, Warren Nalle, Kelly Nalle, Kristen Nalle, Julia Rowland, and Emily Rowland, all of Houston, Sara Baty of Dallas, Texas; and his nieces, Susan Page Driver of Austin, Texas and Sally Page Kanetsky of Dripping Springs, Texas. The family gratefully acknowledges the loving care given to Mr. Nalle by Sandra Duran, Mamie Collins, Evora Thomas and Margaret Ham. The family will receive friends at the Rowland home, 2010 Chilton, on Monday, May 6, 2002 from 6 until 8 p.m. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, with The Rev. Dr. Laurens A. Hall officiating. In lieu of flowers please make a contribution to the American Heart Association, P.O.
