Final Rites For Margaret Dillon

Margaret Dillon, a member of one of the community's most prominent pioneer families, passed away Wednesday, March 23, at the home in Kansas City, Kansas, following an illness of several years from heart trouble.

Margaret Dillon was born near Glasco, Kansas, March 14, 1878, to Michael and Mary Downey Dillon, early pioneers of the Solomon Valley, who settled here with the Pierce Butler, James Hurley, Tom Butler, John Downey and William Cantlin families.

She departed this life March 23, 1955, at the age of 77 years and nine days. Margaret was born on the homestead farm three miles southeast of Glasco, Kansas. She received her education at Harmony school. Her happy disposition, her countless kindnesses and extreme generosity in helping others will be recalled by all who knew her. She was a life-long member of the Catholic church.

At the time of her death she was living with her sister, Julia, at their home in Kansas City, Kansas. She leaves to cherish her memory four sisters: Mrs. Julia Boltwood, Kansas City, Kans.; Mrs. Ella Kimerling, Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Kathryn Richard, Aurora, Kans.; Mrs. Agnes Pilcher, Denver, Colo.; one brother, Mike Dillon, Glasco, Kans.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Mary Driscoll, Oklahoma City, Okla.; Nora Brady, Topeka, Kans.; two brothers, Charles and James of Glasco.

Requiem Mass was conducted Saturday morning, March 26, 1955, at 9:00 a.m. in St. Mary's church with the Rev. James Grennan officiating. Mass was sung by the Delphos choir. Servers were Terry Dillon and Jere DeMars.
