Nancy Richards Noyes was born March 2, 1821 in Dover, Norfolk, Massachusetts. She was the youngest of four daughters born to Captain Luther Richards and Mary "Polly" Sawin. Nancy married Ephraim Southworth Noyes in 1848 and was the mother of two sons with him: Francis S. Noyes and Edward R. Noyes. Sometime in the late 1870's, Nancy moved to Raton, Colfax, NM with her adult sons. Nancy passed away in 1882. Nancy Richards Noyes was survived by her two sons Francis "Frank" and Edward, two sisters, Louisa Richards and Mary Bird Richards Dunbar, brother in-law George B. Dunbar, a niece: Mrs. Mary N. Dunbar Gurney, nephew in-law Franklin Gurney, and two grand nieces: Agnes & Cora Gurney. The inscription reads: N. R. Noyes 1821-1882, Mother. At Rest.
