Duncan and Jane moved from Montreal to Hamilton in 1847. He remained there until 1854, when he was induced to look up the land then known as the "Queen's Bush". He purchased a farm of 200 acres, Lot 3, Con. 1, Luther Twp., Ontario December 18, 1854. He was a man of great personal activity and energy and had no money to start with, but by his own efforts raised and educated his family and left a nice property. He was an Elder and Trustee of the Arthur Presbyterian Church. Duncan died July 8th, 1872 at their farm home and was buried at Greenfield Cemetery near Arthur, Ontario.
